A timeline is a way of visually sequencing events in chronological order. A timeline is presented as a visual display, with a line representing the passage of time and events being placed along the line depending on the order of when they happened.

In the timeline below the events are the archive records labelled with the year they cover. Each record displays its Code, Title and a short extract of its details.

Select the action word at the end of the details extract to access the full catalogue entry for the record.

Above the timeline are a set of controls that enable the timeline to be divided into periods. The number of periods and the length of each period is governed by the total number of archive records, the range of archive record years and a suitable number of records for viewing per period. Each period contains approximately the same number of records. Select one of the period controls to view the timeline for that period.

Note that not all archive records may have a known coverage year, so any such records will not be included in the timeline.
